FCA Recall Info

After the news broke about the buyback program, we have had time to review the Consent Order (make this a hyperlink of the actual document) that was issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA). FCA agreed "to pay a record fine and buy back a select group of recent truck models with suspension problems while offering discounts to owners who might want to trade in older Jeeps facing recall" (NBC News, http://www.nbcnews.com/business/autos/fiat-chrysler-buy-back-recalls-heres-what-you-need-know-n401046). According to the Consent Order, a Defect and Noncompliance Information report must be submitted by the manufacturer within five days of knowing that the vehicle had a safety-related defect. Vehicle owners must be notified by at least 60 days from the date that the manufacturer filed the Defect and Noncompliance Information Report that there was a defect related to safety standards.
